IMPORTANT: Parking at the course is extremely limited. See below or the attached meet information for details on parking for this meet!
Location: Deer Grove East Forest Preserve
Deer Grove East Forest Preserve on Dundee Road, 1⁄4 mile west of Hicks Rd. Some (very limited) spectator parking is available. From Rt. 53, exit Dundee Rd. west. Go approximately 2 miles to Deer Grove. Turn right at first entrance past Hicks Rd. Course routes are 3.0 miles and 2.5 miles.
All buses with athletes must enter the Forest Preserve and drop-off the athletes
before 8:00 am. The entrance will be closed from approximately 8:00 am to 9:00
am as Midtown Athletic Club conducts its 5K charity run. If you come after 8:00
am, you may be directed to the high school and your athletes may miss their
races.
Traffic Flow
All traffic into Deer Grove East Forest Preserve will enter through the main entrance on Dundee Rd. Team buses, shuttle buses, and cars dropping off handicapped or small children will exit through the service entrance at Dundee Rd. and Smith Rd. These vehicles will then be parked at Palatine High School for the duration of the event. A shuttle will transport all drivers to the course, if desired. Traffic marshals will be deployed at the drop-off point in Deer Grove East, at the point where the bike path crosses the service entrance, and at the service exit onto Dundee Rd.
Spectator Parking and Shuttle Traffic Plan
Spectators can park in Deer Grove East until available spots are taken. Then, all cars should be parked in the Pepper Tree neighborhood to the south of the forest preserve or Palatine High School. District 211 will provide a shuttle from Palatine High School to Deer Grove East. The shuttle will not run, though, from 8:00 am to 9:00 am when the main entrance is closed.
After the lots fill in Deer Grove East, police directing traffic at the Dundee Rd. main entrance will advise spectators to follow signs for parking at Palatine High School. Please inform your parents that parking in the UPS lot or in the lot at the corner of Dundee and Smith Rds will result in towing.
Signage
Signs reading “CC Invite Parking” with appropriate directional arrows will be posted at the following corners to direct spectator traffic to Palatine High School:
? Smith Rd. and Dundee Rd. ? Smith Rd. and Cunningham Rd. ? Cunningham Rd. and Hicks Rd. ? Dundee Rd. and Hicks Rd. ? Entrance to Deer Grove East
Handicapped Parking
There are handicapped spots inside Deer Grove East. Should those spots become filled, then the handicapped person may be dropped off at the course.
Emergency Vehicle Access
Posted “No Parking” signs in Pepper Tree should ensure access to those homes. Inside the Forest Preserve, cones will be deployed in front of the yellow “knock-block” access points to prevent illegal parking.
