SECTIONAL INTERVIEW: Mia Bowers, Elle Kowalski

State qualifiers -- senior Mia Bowers and junior Elle Kowalski

Bowers won all four of her events at the Class 3A Lyons Township Sectional -- pole vault (11-8), the 100-meter high hurdles, 300 low hurdles and the 400 relay with Kowalski, Kenna Cinotte and Abby Streff.

Besides the 400 relay, Kowalski added to her first state trip as part of the winning 800 relay, which finished second but then was awarded first after Lyons Township was disqualified for not crossing the finish line with possession of the baton. Kowalski also competed at sectionals in long jump, finishing fourth.
